This view is identical to the 3D display of the main window, except that the graph has been drawn in two dimensions.
You'll find times when a 2D graph is more intuitive, and other times when you prefer three dimensions. Simple graphs, like this one, are often more intuitive in 2D. So are static graphs (for example, you can't rotate, pan or zoom this fixed web page), which is why Imagix 4D generates printer output in two dimensions. Other times, however, you'll often find that 3D is easier to understand. This becomes more obvious when you run the demo software.
You can switch between two and three dimension displays through the 3D button at the bottom of the Graph window.
